Buying Guide: Bar Supplies
Choosing the right bar supplies for your restaurant or lounge can be challenging. Your selection should include the proper glassware for your drink menu, basic tools of bartending, and equipment to help prepare those drinks. A brief overview of these basic bar supplies is below. For more information, visit the Buying Guide in each category. The basics:

* Glassware - Of all bar supplies, selecting the proper glasses for your drink menu is critical. Beer belongs in mugs or pints, martinis in cocktail glasses, and so forth. Be sure to keep an adequate inventory on hand to avoid shortages during your busy nights.
* Equipment - the most expensive of bar supplies, but essential for business. Bar blenders for frozen drinks, sinks for glasswashing, bottle coolers for beer, cocktail units for drink prep, to name a few.
* Bartending tools - the bar supplies common to any bar, whether its the home bar or the professional cocktail bar. The most common of these are bar shakers, bar spoons, bottle openers, jiggers, and strainers, although there are many choices available for the creative bartender.
* Other basic bartending supplies - items such as speed rails, mats, scoops, etc. Every bar will use a different combination of these items, depending on menu and business volume, as well as the personal preferences of the bartenders themselves.
* Disposable and perishable items - bar supplies you use once and hopefully won't see again. Cocktail umbrellas, toothpicks, swordpicks, and straws are a few. Perishable items such as olives or cocktail cherries can be purchased in bulk, while lime wedges and orange slices should be prepared daily.
